BEN-E-LECT EMBARKS ON MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO BRING ATTENTION TO CARRIERS’ PRACTICES
Create public awareness about the increasing restrictions carriers in California were imposing on the use of “wraparounds” with high deductible health plans, a cost savings model used by many small employers to help manage skyrocketing health care costs and improve benefits for their employees.
Straightline Communications launched a public awareness campaign designed to educate small businesses, reporters, and insurance agents, legislators and other stakeholders on this controversial issue and dispel misperceptions about these cost savings plan models. To strengthen our campaign, we secured local third party experts and small employer case studies on behalf of our client, BEN-E-LECT, a third party administrator of flexible health benefits plans.
Simple, clear and consistent messaging when explaining this complex issue enabled Straightline Communications to maintain reporters’ interest, schedule numerous interviews, and secure feature articles in business and trade publications including Marketwatch, Workforce Management, and Forbes as well as business journals throughout California. The articles not only provided clarification on wraparound plans, it brought attention to these insurance carrier practices by legislators and the Department of Insurance.
