Linda O’Hanlon, president of Straightline Communications, directs all facets of public relations/marcom activities for clients and counsels senior management on strategic issues and planning. Drawing on her strong background in business-to-business communications and agency management while working at a boutique, Los Angeles based public relations firm, she established her own consultancy (previously O’Hanlon & Associates) in 1991.
Over the course of her 30+ year career in communications, she has helped deliver results for such well known companies as Time Life, Holiday Inn, Coldwell Banker, Lockton, and Superior Industries International, Inc.
She has structured, implemented and managed integrated corporate communications programs for companies in industries ranging from real estate, hospitality, legal, and financial to banking, manufacturing, healthcare and insurance. Her experience is as diverse as the scope of projects and clients she has served:
- Spearheaded numerous national media campaigns, achieving coverage in all major markets including local network news, national syndicated television and radio programs, daily newspapers, and national publications.
- Established a bilateral consumer and business-to-business communications program for a real estate organization; securing in the first year +100 articles in trade publications and newspapers statewide.
- On behalf of a regional bank, implemented a cohesive sales and account retention program involving corporate positioning and message development, industry targeted letters, customer satisfaction surveys, direct mail, and advertising.
- Developed bilingual collateral for City of Santa Ana, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family, and Secretary of Tourism-Mexico.
She has worked closely with C level executives in launching corporate-wide initiatives and developing their presentations, including deep inquiry about their vision, purpose and direction, brainstorming ideas, writing their speeches for emotional or motivational impact, and coaching them on delivery.
Before transitioning into the corporate communications arena in 1986, Linda began her entrepreneurial career in documentary, commercial, and film production followed by a successful floral and executive gift company in Mexico City serving corporate clients such as American Express, Casa Pedro Domecq, and Volkswagen as well as the Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR) and the Mexican Secretary of the Interior.
Learning the nuances of doing business in a foreign country fine tuned her business acumen and relationship based approach to client service founded on teamwork, integrity and personal commitment. It is this approach coupled with her hands-on involvement in every project and program that has built Straightline’s reputation for long term client relationships.
